In order to move through professional spheres with ease and confidence, one needs to develop poise, style and excellent language, interpersonal and professional skills which are up to international standards. ARETÉ helps individuals develop personally by customising programmes to suit their needs.
The Core Programme develops leadership qualities. Classical wisdom and experience show that truly happy and successful leaders have a strong and balanced character which is founded on these pillars: sound judgement, responsibility, courage and self-mastery. Through personality tests and individual coaching, the participants become more aware of themselves and learn to harness their strengths and work on their weaknesses.
At ARETÉ, instructors and coaches share the commitment to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit and heart. Since character development is the main goal, individual coaching is a fundamental component of ARETÉ’s personalised approach. Through coaching, individuals are helped to know themselves better. They are shown how to reach their highest potential by discovering their strengths and unique talents to develop, as well as the areas in which they need to improve.
There are 5 sessions in the Coaching Programme. The meetings are organized at the convenience of each participant. They are informal conversations that help each individual grow in self-knowledge, set personal, academic and professional goals based on qualities and skills he or she would like to develop.
When the individual being coached is a teenager, parents are also invited to meet the coach for at least one of the sessions in order to contribute their own insights about the individual’s progress. Everyone prepares for the meeting by noting issues for discussion and identifying areas of growth for the individual concerned. The Coaching Programme ensures that the academy, school and home, work as one.
Exclusively for Teens
At ARETÉ, internships are offered in two ways:
Local and international internship programmes
Internships are offered to further assist students with their personal development. We will introduce the student to the organization of their choice and act as the intermediary between the two during the work period. In order to take part in our internship programmes, students are required to follow an introduction to the Leadership Core Programme.
Short internships offered as a part of the Core Programme
As a practical application to all the qualities and skills that each young person will acquire, we encourage and facilitate all participants to do internships at a profit or not-for-profit organization of their choice. This will give them a chance to demonstrate the extent of their personal development, receive feedback from their coaches and acquire valuable experience for their academic and professional undertakings.
Ever since I started the leadership programme, there has been a noticeable difference in my personality. It’s a programme that is unique to others in the sense that it is very personalised to meet your specific needs…The programme has taught me how to minimise my weaknesses while strengthening the leadership qualities I possess.Raia Abdul Azeez
I started my internship after I had completed my IGCSE’s in late June. I had previously done part of the core leadership programme. The internship had exposed me to a variety of skills in terms of communication, marketing and organization – as well as meeting new people of all ages and learning more about them and leadership.Mahika Panditha
I found the leadership programme very useful and challenging. It was communicated in a friendly personal manner. There were ample opportunities to interact. It opened my mind to know I can learn more and improve who I can be. I learnt to inspire and lead others by understanding myself.Kaveen Nelson
I found the programme very informative and helpful. It gave me a far greater understanding of myself: both strengths and weaknesses, but most importantly what I can work on to improve my character. It helped me learn what my natural temperament is and what that means. I thought that looking at one’s temperament was something unique about the programme. This altogether gave me a more rounded definition of what it is to be a leader and how I might become one.Ruwan Silva
The internship I had done over the course of the summer holidays was one great experience. I had just come down for a visit from Thailand and was persuaded to take up a short term internship. Through my given opportunity, I worked on technological as well as promotional projects. I discovered more about myself and challenged myself to grow as an individual and as a team player. I really think the academy helps young people to have a voice. I encourage Sri Lanka’s youth to not overlook such a marvelous opportunity.Sheshana Jayasekera
