The Communication Skills program I followed showed me that it’s never too late to learn when you have the right coach! Shivanthi at ARETÉ gave me the tools to construct exactly what I want to say and find the best way of saying it. For example, I’m able to catch myself so that I don’t confuse the P and F sounds. But even if I still make mistakes, I have the confidence to make a joke of it and focus on getting my message across, especially with my colleagues in the US and UK. This has helped me to excel at my job and not shy away from taking on new challenges and roles.

I discovered how to do a presentation without hiding behind the slides. First, I learned how to structure the content making it complete but concise. This already improved my confidence because I knew that if the message was solid, I could stand by it. Then, I learned techniques to project my voice, which was difficult at first, because I’m a shy person. But I learned that if my message was important, then I need to be heard. Ms Sandrasagra was very patient in helping me through the process. The presentation skills program helped me to progress to the next level in my career.

I received coaching from Ms Fernandes. She quickly picks up on your behavioral patterns without you feeling like you are being closely watched. Throughout the session she ensures that you are comfortable and at ease. She makes a conscious effort to have you recognize your talents and strengths and shows your weak points without making you feel too self-conscious or insecure. She makes it easy for people like me who have a hard time opening up, to not feel intimidated or judged. It feels like talking to a caring friend who genuinely wants me to succeed in life.
