Carlita Weerasinha was part of the team that secured approval for a $500 million resort through the active implementation of a public relations plan, including development of publicity materials for the California Mirage Resorts Monarch Bay Club and Monarch Beach Golf Links to the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, and subsequently moved from California to Australia (Queensland and Tasmania) in 1996 and remained and worked there for over 20 years. She became a Trusted Advisor, Liaison and Manager for the Managing Director and oversaw Special Projects, Property Management and Marketing and Promotions for Nekon Pty Ltd.
Some of her projects included the organizing of an event in honor of Fred Chaney, (Former Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, Officer of the Order of Australia and Senior Australian of the Year), managing and organizing the McDonalds Opening in Tasmania for over 5,000 people, and overseeing and managing the Christmas Lights Switch-On at Waratah Village, Newcastle, NSW, which she developed from inception with a specialized team, the largest Christmas lights display in Australia (with a budget of over $3 million) for one of New South Whales’ best performing shopping centres. Each year, she personally designed, developed and decorated more than 13 specialty shop windows reflecting Christmas story cards and organized a family friendly environment each year to celebrate the famous Christmas lights switch-on which is attended by over 4,000 people each year.
She currently lives in Sri Lanka where she works in Resort Sales & Marketing for Shakticola, and runs her own project called Sedona Canyon Estate in Nakiyadeniya.
