Principal, The Study in Colombo
Jill Macdonald holds a degree in English Literature from Trinity College in the University of Toronto and an M. Phil. in English Literature from Balliol College, Oxford University. A citizen of Canada, she came to Sri Lanka in 1990 to teach at The Colombo International School, where she subsequently became Director of Studies before leaving the school to take up the role of Headmistress of The British School in Colombo, a post she held for eleven years. She has served on the Board of Governors of Bishop’s College and as founding Principal of The Study, Colombo’s first Sixth Form College, continues to teach A-level literature and to pursue her particular interest in literature of the immigrant experience. She has been a judge of the Gratiaen Prize and a moderator and panelist at the Galle Literary Festival.
